Did our non-profit group, Free Kris Helton, and its 100K+ Twitter followers actually tip the scales in favor of re-electing Rick Scott?

Posted by maries0529@yahoo.com on November 5, 2014 at 3:50 PM

In case you haven’t been paying attention to what we’ve been doing over on Twitter, I’m now making this new blog post to let you know that we offered special thanks to our 100K+ followers early yesterday (on Tuesday, November 4, 2014) for helping to re-elect Rick Scott, Pam Bondi, Jeff Atwater, and Adam Putnam.

Indeed, we had known and been tweeting for weeks that Scott, Bondi, Atwater, and Putnam would be re-elected! This is because internal polling had showed us that most of our 100K+ Twitter followers would support and help re-elect these people. So much for the reliability of those traditional polling services which predicted that Charlie Crist would somehow defeat Scott!

Anyway, without the support and meaningful help of our non-profit group and its 100K+ Twitter followers, we truly believe Scott would have lost to Crist! Thus, it’s not a stretch to say that our non-profit group and its 100K+ followers did, in fact, tip the scales in favor of Scott! Now let’s what, if anything, Scott, Bondi, Atwater, and Putnam do to help free Kris Helton!

Because it?s so clear that our non-profit group and thousands of its Twitter followers made such a difference in the election yesterday, I?m hoping and praying that the Clemency Board for the State of Florida (the Hon. Rick Scott, Governor; the Hon. Pam Bondi, Attorney General; the Hon. Jeff Atwater, Chief Financial Officer; and the Hon. Adam Putnam, Commissioner of Agriculture) will now be more inclined to commute the parole eligible life sentence which Kris Helton received (and continues to serve) for a crime he did not commit!

After all, Scott, Bondi, Atwater, and Putnam should be able to see that we just helped them get re-elected yesterday . . . and they also should be able to see (1) the federal courts have already found that Kris Helton presented inviolable and persuasive proof of his actual, factual innocence, and (2) he continues to remain locked up inside a state prison just because a prominent Miami attorney, Mel Black, failed to ensure a timely filing of his client?s federal habeas petition. Without a doubt, this is a truly "special" case, one more than worthy of executive clemency!

If you can do simple math, and I can, you can see, as I do, that this nonprofit group and thousands of Twitter followers did, in fact, tip the scales in favor of reelecting Rick Scott. However, I?m not sure if this going to be a good thing for the State of Florida. Only time will tell. Still, think Scott, Pam Bondi, Jeff Atwater, and Adam Putnam are more likely to commute Kris Helton?s sentence for a crime everyone can see he did not commit. Indeed, these people ought to be moved by the fact that Kris remains locked up inside a state prison even despite having presented what the federal courts repeatedly found to be inviolable and persuasive proof of his innocence and that this ongoing travesty is the direct result of Kris? attorney, Mel Black, filing some paperwork a little bit late. This case cries out for executive clemency.

Good news for Kris!! Now, let's hope this helps reduce his sentence or set him free from a crime he didn't commit. Very happy that you posted this news! :) Prayers from Illinois!

You did tip the scales in favor of reelecting Rick Scott. With any luck, our governor will help free Kris Helton! This poor man is completely innocent and definitely deserves his freedom!

Amongst many others, Rick Scott does have this group to thank for his re-election. My husband and I were leaning towards voting for Charlie Crist this part Tuesday but we changed our minds at the last minute after learning Scott was more likely to free Kris Helton.

Let me be very, very clear about this: I WAS NEVER GOING TO VOTE FOR CHARLIE CRIST!!! As Florida's attorney general, this flip-flopping career politician fought to keep Kris Helton locked up on a technicality . . . and what kind of human being fights to keep innocent people locked away in jail on technicalities? ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE!!! YOU'VE GOT NO HEART, CHARLIE!!! Anyway, I'm sure this group did tip the scales in favor of reelecting Rick Scott. Yeah, Scott has his critics (all elected officials do), but at least we're keeping a man in office with some heart, integrity, and the courage to do the right thing . . . and everyone can easily see the right thing is to free Kris (I have been all over social media and I cannot find one single person arguing that Scott shouldn't commute Kris' sentence)!

It does look like this group tipped the scales in favor of Rick Scott.

A lot of different people helped reelect Rick Scott last week. Still, without your group?s many efforts on social media, Scott wouldn?t have been reelected. I?m not sure if this will actually help free Kris Helton via executive clemency (you?re also going to need the support of Pam Bondi, Jeff Atwater, and Adam Putnam), but it certainly can?t hurt because Helton, who presented what the federal court found to be "inviolable" and "persuasive" proof of his innocence (he was nearly 30 miles away when the crime was committed by someone else), was already an excellent candidate for having his sentence commuted.

We all know this group can be an ABSOLUTE BEAST on social media! It has been blowing up Facebook and Twitter for quite some time now! I can even recall when Marie Meyer had to BEG and plead with everyone to NOT start a worldwide boycott of the ENTIRE State of Florida (that would've been a financial disaster of monumental proportions!) and instead just focus on just boycotting the Florida Keys and Key West (thus depriving them of precious tourism and tax dollars until they free Kris Helton)! I can also recall when Marie had to BEG everyone to not hold protests and rallies outside the federal courthouse where Kris' case is being heard (and I guess that motion he filed is still pending before some federal judge). At any rate, I know this group did some very deep polling, carefully weighed its options, then publicly endorsed Rick Scott, effectively turned out tens of thousand of voters to reelect Scott, and Charlie Crist ended up losing by less voters than the group actually turned out!

Like everyone else, I think this non-profit group (and its thousands of Twitter followers) did tip the scales in favor of re-electing Rick Scott. Charlie Crist must be kicking himself in the ass for not realizing the power it wields on social media!

It's undeniable: This nonprofit group did tip the scales in favor of reelecting Rick Scott!!! But even if Charlie Crist would've won the election a few weeks ago, I'm sure Scott would have helped free Kris Helton before leaving office because our justice system completely failed this poor guy!!!

You all did tip the scales in favor of re-electing Rick Scott. I assume this was done because you all believe he is more likely to free Kris Helton.

Rick Scott was reelected because of this group and its many Twitter followers. #SorryCharlie Now we'll just have to see if Scott will free Kris Helton via executive clemency ? He should ... Kris is innocent ?

I don't think there's much of a question about whether or not you and your Twitter followers helped tip the scales in favor of re-electing Rick Scott. I'm just curious about whether or not you're going to support Catherine Vogel's opponent for State Attorney in 2016? If so, I think she's going to be in big trouble!

If Catherine Vogel helps us free Kris Helton, we'll help reelect her in 2016. However, if she continues to turn a blind eye towards the fact that Kris Helton remains incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit just because Mel Black filed some paperwork a little bit late, then we'll definitely support her opponent . . . and I'm willing to bet every single thing I own that he or she will defeat Vogel.

It will be quite easy for us help Catherine Vogel's opponent win in 2016. After all, who would seriously consider voting for Vogel after learning she has allowed Kris Helton to rot away in a state prison for a crime everyone knows he didn't commit merely because Mel Black filed Kris' federal habeas petition shortly after the deadline passed?

If Catherine Vogel continues to lack the courage to do what's right, she will be voted out of office in 2016!!! She's crazy to think otherwise!!! But I'm hoping and praying that Rick Scott will commute Kris Helton's sentence long before then!!! Kris has presented that "inviolable" & "persuasive" proof of his innocence but still remains incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit due to a legal blunder committed by Mel Black!!!
